Ohuchi (Ouchi) Bench Chisels / Oire Nomi

Kinari Oire Nomi is a thinner version of Mentori and is for lighter and detailed work.

Hiramachi Oire Nomi is even thinner than Kinari and has a flat shaft for derailed work (getting into tight spaces) like small dovetails.

Hiramaru Oire Nomi is between Kinari and Hiramachi. The name "Hiramaru" comes from the shape of its shaft. "Hira" means flat and "Maru" means round. As you can see, the shaft of the blade body is flat and the handle is round.

Which style of bench chisels would be suitable for you depends on what type of work you do the most. We usually recommend Mentori or Kakuuchi chisels for general purposes. Otherwise, please contact us for help with determining which chisels would work best for you.
